1000_1474886180istanbul-gradonacelnikMayor of the City of Istanbul Kadir Topbas stated his one-day visit to Sarajevo by visiting the White Fortress, in the company of the Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka.

Deputy Mayor Skaka presented the project White Fortress to the guest from Istanbul.

“With revitalization of this valuable cultural-historical monument, we would restore its authentic look, create attractive contents for organization of cultural events, and complement tourist resources of Sarajevo,” Skaka emphasized, adding that the City of Sarajevo has already completed the conceptual design of the complex Bijela Tabija, which was presented to the delegation of Istanbul in the City Hall.

However, archaeological research that the City of Sarajevo invested more than a million BAM in is suspended because of the discovery of foundations of a former mosque at this location. Skaka invited experts from Istanbul to join this project, considering their experience and longtime partnership in restoration of historical facilities in Sarajevo.

Mayor Topbas said that the City of Sarajevo can expect visit by restorers from Istanbul very soon and that Administration of the City of Istanbul will finance the construction of the mosque that used to be a part of the White Fortress complex.
