Public enterprise “City Museums” Sarajevo, in cooperation with the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, successfully implemented the first phase of the “BOAM” (Bosnian Open-Air Museum) project, which included the development of the conceptual framework of the project and the creation of an interactive digital map to present the long-term vision of the open-air museum.

In the announcement of PE “City Museums” Sarajevo, it is stated that the “BOAM” project is conceived as a long-term cultural initiative that explores new models of connecting cultural heritage, natural environment and contemporary art practices through an open, publicly accessible museum concept. Instead of a classic museum infrastructure, BOAM develops as a process that is built gradually, in accordance with the space and its natural and cultural context.

During the first phase of the project, key visual and digital communication tools were developed, including an interactive digital map and a promotional video. These formats concisely and clearly present the basic idea of an open-air museum, its relationship to the space and the long-term vision of the project’s development, and serve as a communication tool for institutions, partners and the general public. In this way, a clear understanding of the BOAM concept and its development logic was made possible, without the need for a physical tour of the locations.

The project aims to make cultural heritage more accessible to a wider audience, especially younger generations and tourists, using modern forms of presentation, digital tools and innovative interpretations of space.

In subsequent stages, further development and upgrading of the project is planned through additional digital content, interactive elements and gradual development of program activities, in accordance with the defined vision and partnership framework. In the long term, BOAM has the potential to contribute to the development of cultural tourism and contemporary approaches to the promotion of the cultural heritage of Sarajevo Canton, it was announced.
