A conference on strengthening the capacities of the global platform for disaster risk reduction in local communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held today in Sarajevo, organized by the Association AZUR and under the auspices of the Ministry of Security of BiH and the UN Office for Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
The conference brought together representatives of local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as representatives of domestic and international institutions, organizations and experts, engaged in the implementation of the goals and activities of the UNDRR Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction and the implementation of the policies of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
The conference was opened by the BiH Minister of Security Nenad Nešić and the Resident Representative of UNDP in BiH Steliana Nedera.
With the entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the EU Civil Protection Mechanism last year, new perspectives have opened for improving the capacity of prevention, preparedness and response to natural and other disasters, although BiH has a long and thorny road ahead to build an efficient system in accordance with the recommendations and UN and EU guidelines.
That is why cooperation with key partners in implementing the goals and policies of the global platform for risk reduction in Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the priorities in the work of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
