New Year’s press conference was opportunity for Mayor of the Municipality Novi Grad Sarajevo Semir Efendic to summarize the achievements in 2015 and to reveal plans for next one. Announced projects of construction of the Congress Centre next to the building of Radio-TV of B&H and the sports and recreation center in Dobrinja, as well as the possibility of Turkish investments in a hotel with 500 rooms, draw special attention.
Some of the plans for 2016 are following:
– Congress center in Sarajevo, whose draft was adopted, and the public hearing is currently taking place. This project is the work of award-winning international architectural studio. For this investment, whose value is almost 300 million BAM, is necessary to solve the property-legal relations and the selection of investors.
– Construction of the Ninth transversal – the land acquisition of the company Energoinvest is completed, the Factory of transmission line towers, which was an extremely complicated process because the land was mortgaged.
– Beginning of the construction of sports and recreation center Dobrinja with outdoor swimming pool near Dobrinja gymnasium. The Urban Development project for this new modern facility was accepted, and the preliminary design already won an international award in Novi Sad. Efendic said that this center is special for its multi-functionality and special materials from which it will be built, given that the same space can be used as an ice surface in winter, and as a sports surface for tennis and basketball in spring and autumn. It is expected that its construction will be completed within two or three budget years, and from their own funds, without borrowing.
Finally it was noted that they have contacts with the Turkish investors in Alanya who registered company in Sarajevo and have plans to build a large hotel with 500 rooms close to the municipal building and the city’s main roads. However, Efendic emphasized that formal negotiations on this issue will take place next year.
