Constitutional Court considers the Veto of Bosniaks today

ustavni sud rs rtv7.baSession of the Council for protection of vital national interest within the Constitutional Court of RS, at which the veto of Caucus of Bosniaks in the Council of Nations of Republika Srpska to the decision on the referendum on January 9 as the Day of Republika Srpska will be considered, is scheduled for today.

Judges will also consider the request by the Caucus of Bosniaks for the determining of the violation of vital national interest of Bosniak nation in relation to the Law on Processing and Publishing of Results of Census of Population and Households in the RS in 2013.

If the session of the Council results with the decision that those two vetoes of Bosniaks are acceptable for discussion, final decision on whether the decision on referendum in the RS and the Law on Census in the RS violate the vital national interest of Bosniak nation will be known within 30 days.

These two acts can enter into force after the decision by the Council of the Constitutional Court of RS.

Bosniak politicians say that January 9 cannot be accepted as the Day of Republika Srpska and they believe that decision by the Constitutional Court of BiH from November 26, 2016 should be implemented. According to that decision, directives of the Law on Holidays in the RS that refer to January 9 as the Day of Republika Srpska are unconstitutional.

However, Bosniak politicians announced that they will continue the legal fight to dispute the decision on referendum in that BiH entity regardless of the decision by the Council of the Constitutional Court of BiH, if necessary even before the Constitutional Court of BiH.
