Construction of Two Hydro Power Plants in Visegrad soon

The Government of Republika Srpska entity has decided to launch a concession procedure for the construction of two small hydropower plants in Visegrad, with an estimated investment value of about 3.12 million BAM.

According to the decisions of the RS Government, published in the RS Official Gazette, the construction of two small hydropower plants is planned, Crni Rzav with an estimated installed capacity of 0.3 megawatts and an estimated annual production of 1.5 gigawatts per hour and “Bijeli Rzav” with an estimated installed capacity of 0 , 3 megawatts and an estimated annual output of 1.9 gigawatts.

The construction of the small hydro power plant Crni Rzav is planned on a part of the watercourse of the river, near the village of Vardiste, while the construction of the Bijeli Rzav hydroelectric power plant is planned on a part of the watercourse near the border with the Republic of Serbia.

It was also stated that the value of Crni Rzav plant is about 1.66 million BAM, while the value of the small hydro power plant Bijeli Rzav is about 1.46 million BAM.

The initiative for the award of concessions for the construction of these two small hydropower plants was submitted by the company VG Ekoenergija from Visegrad. The director of the company, Marina Andric, told Glas Srpske that the company has extensive experience in investing in renewable energy.

“I expect that the concession will be awarded to us, and immediately after that we will start drafting technical documentation and providing loans for the construction of facilities. As good businessmen, we use European standards and modern technology in the construction of hydropower plants. All our facilities that are in use are used in accordance with the highest environmental and other standards, for the benefit of future generations,” Andric said.

She added that their goal is to follow the trends, using renewable energy sources to reduce the pollution of the planet, which has grown enormously.

The Republika Srpska government has authorized the Ministry of Energy and Mining to prepare tender documentation for the award of small hydro power plant concessions in Visegrad, EKapija business portal reports.
