The consumer basket calculated by the Union of Independent Trade Unions of BiH (SSSBiH) for September this year amounts to 1,942.61 BAM and is for 428.20 BAM cheaper than the consumer basket for the previous month.

The average salary paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity for July this year amounted to 940 BAM and is 29 BAM higher than the average salary paid in June this year, according to the data of the Federal Bureau of Statistics. Union consumer basket coverage with an average salary is 48.39 percent.

When calculating a price of union consumer basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum cost of living of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one in high school and the other in elementary.

The consumer basket itself consists of: food (40.7 percent), housing and utilities (16 percent), hygiene and health maintenance (5.8 percent), education and culture (8.8 percent), clothing and footwear (15.4 percent), transportation (7.1 percent), and household maintenance (6.2 percent).

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers for 82 items were used. As for hygiene and maintenance of health, the costs for eight items were counted, while for housing and utilities the costs for six items were counted, the Information Service of the SSSBiH said.
