Continuation of Trial of the former Director of the Intelligence and Security Agency

At the trial of the former director of the Intelligence and Security Agency (OSA) Osman Mehmedagić for abuse of office, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted a set of material evidence related to the confiscation of items in that proceeding.

Orders and reports of judicial and police authorities from 2021, including the “register index” volume, have been added to the file.

“The evidence mainly relates to the method of obtaining evidence,” said prosecutor Sanja Ljuboje Romić.

The defense objected to the legality of the acquisition of three pieces of evidence, the order of the Municipal Court in Tuzla and two pieces of evidence related to the “register index” as a registry record.

“This is not the way evidence should be obtained before this court,” said defense attorney Nermin Mulalić.

The prosecutor said that the law does not stipulate how one court takes evidence from another court.

At the beginning of the hearing, the Council announced its decision regarding the defense’s earlier objections to the illegality of the expert testimony. The chairperson of the Council, Jasmina Ćosić Dedović, said that at this moment it is premature for the Council to declare itself, because it does not yet have all the evidence related to that issue.

Due to the objections of the defense, the hearing of the Prosecution experts who examined the computer units was postponed earlier.

Mehmedagić is accused of having held the position of director of OSA without the required higher education from 2019, when his degree from the Faculty of Business Studies in Banja Luka was annulled, until 2023, when he was relieved of his duties. He was accused of abusing his position to remain in a position for which he did not meet the requirements.

The continuation of the trial is scheduled for March 17, when the hearing of three experts is planned, reports Detektor/BIRN BiH.
