novacRaiffeisen Bank dd BiH and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed a loan agreement yesterday in the framework of the other credit lines for financing sustainable energy sources for the Western Balkans (WeBSEFF 2).

Raiffeisen Bank is the first borrower under this line of credit, and the loan of 5 million euros will be used for on-lending to private and public BIH companies that invest in sustainable energy projects.

The Director of Raiffeisen Bank Michael Mueller said that the funds for the financing of projects for more efficient use of energy will be increasingly important, “so we are happy to continue cooperation with EBRD through another credit line intended for such projects’’.

“Customers have already recognized the multiple benefits of this type of financing, and the evident increase in awareness of the benefits of the application of energy efficiency measures, and we expect the successful implementation of this credit line’’, said Mueller.

Sir Suma Chakrabarti, the President of EBRD, took the opportunity to point out a significant imperative to continue to improve the energy efficiency of the Western Balkans.

“Energy prices are on the rise, and this trend is expected to accelerate, which represents an additional cost burden for companies. Improving energy efficiency and greater use of renewable energy resources are an effective way of dealing with this challenge’’, said Chakrabarti.

Through WeBSEFF 2 line of credit, 75 million euros for funding of sustainable energy in the Western Balkans will be used.

At the same time, a contract was signed between EBRD and Raiffeisen Leasing on credit line intended for the financing of small and medium businesses was signed, in the amount of 5 million euros.

“With this credit line, EBRD would enable better support to clients from small and medium businesses through attractive financing conditions’’, announced Belma Sekavić-Bandić, the Director of Raiffeisen Leasing.
