The basic court in Bijeljina today rejected the proposal to order custody of six arrested persons, who are suspected of the criminal offense of exploiting a computer network or communication by other technical means for sexual abuse or exploitation of a child.

The District Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bijeljina announces an appeal against this decision.

“The District Public Prosecutor’s Office presented the Court with evidence indicating the existence of a well-founded suspicion that the suspects committed the aforementioned criminal acts and will file an appeal against the decision of the Basic Court in Bijeljina, which rejected the proposal to order custody,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

These are persons whose initials are S.Š, E.Đ, M.P, P.G, K.K. and M.Đ, who were arrested in the operation of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bijeljina in cooperation with the police authorities of the Republic of Srpska, the Directorate of the Criminal Police of the Republic of Srpska, and the police administrations of Bijeljina and Zvornik.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska previously announced that these persons were arrested on Tuesday, January 24, as part of the operation codenamed “Karika 2022”.

During the search at seven locations, mobile phones, devices for storing digital data, sim cards and memory cards, as well as other evidence related to the commission of criminal acts, were found and confiscated.

They are suspected of recruiting children through social networks, then leading them to create child pornography content, and introducing them to pornography by sending them photographic and video material of pornographic content, and of trying to arrange meetings with children in order to commit adultery.
