The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Rade Grujić to six years in prison in a first-instance verdict for rape in Liplje near Zvornik in 1992.

Grujić was convicted of a crime against humanity and found guilty of raping a woman of Bosniak nationality in Liplje in the house where a large number of civilians were detained, as a member of the Snagovo company of the Zvornik Territorial Defense.

The verdict states that from the end of May to the beginning of June 1992, a large number of civilians were imprisoned in houses in Liplje who were physically and mentally abused, and who were illegally held by members of the “White Eagles” unit and the Snagovo company, and that many of them were raped.

The court partially accepted the property claim of the injured party, and Grujic was ordered to pay her 10,000 BAM after the verdict becomes final.

The time he spent in detention since February last year will be included in Grujić’s sentence, and a decision was made to extend this measure.

The trial began in April 2023.

An appeal to the Appellate Council of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina is allowed, Detektor reports.
