According to the latest data from the annual analysis and monitoring of the process of resolving the oldest cases, the courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from January 1 to March 31, 2021, resolved a total of 60,259 cases, which is a significant contribution to the continuous reduction of cases from the oldest age categories. that is, increasing the efficiency of the courts in BiH, and thus the judiciary as a whole.

Compared to the same period in 2020, the number of resolved cases increased by 6,643 cases, or 12 percent.

For 2021, the plan envisages resolving 171,925 of the oldest cases, of which 35 percent have been resolved so far.

In the courts of the Federation of BiH during the first quarter of 2021, a total of 40,370 cases were resolved, in the Republika Srpska 18,535 cases, and in the Brcko District of BiH 833 cases, while the Court of BiH resolved 521 oldest cases.

From 2010 until March 31, 2021, the courts resolved 1,314,816 of the oldest cases, which greatly affected the reduction of the total number of unresolved cases in the courts. This number is the result of a long-standing practice of implementing plans to resolve the oldest cases in the courts, introduced by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) in 2011 to reduce the age structure and large backlog of old cases.
