The Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, stated on Thursday that the CBS data for January of this year show the continuation of the trend of decreasing inflation, while the Government is protecting citizens’ standards with strong measures.

“According to the first estimate of the State Statistical Office (DZS), inflation slowed down to 4.1 percent on an annual basis in January, which is the lowest inflation rate since October 2021. With strong government measures, we are protecting the standard of Croatian citizens and continuing the trend of reducing inflation.” , the Prime Minister announced on the social network X.

On Thursday, the CBS published the first estimate of the consumer price index, according to which in January 2024 the inflation rate was 4.1 percent compared to January 2023, while compared to the previous month, that is, December last year, it fell by 0 .4 percent.

This slowed down the growth of consumer prices on an annual basis, given that in December 2023, inflation amounted to 4.5 percent. The rate of 4.1 percent is the lowest inflation rate since October 2021, when it was 3.8 percent.

According to the first estimate published by Eurostat today, the annual inflation rate in January measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) in Croatia was 4.8 percent, while on a monthly basis, compared to December 2023, it fell by 0. 3 percent.

In the entire eurozone, the average annual inflation rate in January was 2.8 percent. Only Estonia had a higher inflation rate than Croatia, five percent.
