In the premises of the Youth Center at Skenderija in Sarajevo, a formal ceremony was held yesterday on the occasion of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Police Day, attended by numerous dignitaries. Prior to the ceremony, a formation of ceremonial police units from the Police Administration of the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs was held.
Among those present at the formation of the units were, among others, the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs Ramo Isak, CSMinister of Interior Admir Katica, Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarevic, as well as the legendary commander of the defense of Sarajevo, Dragan Vikic, who saluted as he passed by the assembled units.
Vikic was the commander of the Special Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) at the beginning of the war, a man who opposed the attacks of the Greater Serbian Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA). At that time, the Special Unit of the Sarajevo Ministry of Internal Affairs, commanded by Vikic, began intercepting military trucks with weapons in BiH, for which he was criminally reported.
After the formation of the ceremonial police units of the CS, Vikicstayed on for the formal ceremony which began at 4:00 p.m., where an appropriate program was organized as every year on this anniversary. Numerous guests attended, including representatives of the CS Government delegation and the Mayor of Sarajevo, Predrag Puharic.
It is worth recalling that the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs was founded in 1996, after the establishment of the CS as part of the Federation of BiH (FBiH).
The first Minister of Internal Affairs of the CS was Ismet Dahic, who held the position from November 21st, 1996, to December 19th, 1998.
The current Minister of Internal Affairs of the CS is Admir Katica, who addressed those present at the Youth Center on the occasion of this important date, N1 writes.
