The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Edin Forto, assessed that the situation in the capital of BiH is serious due to precipitation, but that it is under control. Forto called on the citizens to reduce the movement to the necessary minimum.

The Prime Minister said that the Government of CS held an emergency session today and adopted a series of conclusions in order to solve the accumulated problems.

Among other things, he said that the CS Government had ordered the CS Civil Protection Headquarters to initiate all measures prescribed in the Active Flood Defense Plans and to go to the areas with all human resources and equipment and take all active measures.

The government has ordered all ministries to stop the work of schools, kindergartens and other public institutions in flooded and risky areas, if necessary, said Forto, emphasizing that three schools have already been closed.

The Minister of Transport of CS, Adnan Šteta, said that the traffic was very difficult, and that a large number of roads were flooded, especially in the areas of Ilidža, Novi Grad, Ilijaš and Trnovo, and that they were working on repairing those problems.

“Due to the frequent power outage, it is difficult to establish public transport, because the traffic lights are not working. The teams are on the field,” said Šteta.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of CS, Adnan Katica, said that the police regulate the traffic on the most frequent roads.
