Sabina Cudic, President of the Main Board of Our Party and Member of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, met today in Sofia with former President of the NATO Military Committee and Great Britain’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Stuart Peach.
A forum on relations between the European Union and the countries of the Western Balkans was held in Sofia today, and numerous officials from the EU, NATO and the region addressed it.
The Forum was addressed by, among others, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, former EU High Representative for Security and Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini, EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi and former NATO Military Committee President and UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Stuart Peachn, who spoke together with Sabina Cudic.
Cudic addressed the Forum on two occasions. She spoke about the genesis of Russian influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing Milorad Dodik as his main conductor.
“Milorad Dodik is a security threat in BiH. He is interesting to Russia not only as someone who declaratively stands for its interests, but also as a man who has the capacity to produce a real crisis that suits Russia,” she said.
For that reason, she considers BiH’s accession to the European Union and NATO especially important.
“The EU is important because BiH belongs to it in terms of civilization, it is also important because of the economic prosperity of our citizens, but no progress can happen without security and peace, the only guarantor of which can be BiH’s membership in NATO,” she said.
She emphasized this during talks with Stuart Peach, former chairman of NATO’s Military Committee and Britain’s special envoy to the Western Balkans. She also talked to Federica Mogherini, who informed about the efforts of our party to return to the agenda at the state level the laws that guarantee BiH candidate status in the EU.
