damir_delicDamir Delic, who came in the United States in late 1990’s as a refugee from BiH, was appointed as the Managing Director and Vice President of the US First Atlantic Bank, where he is in charge of commercial banking.

“I was born in BiH. There was a war from 1992 to 1995, and my family had to leave the country. We lived as refugees in Germany from 1992 to 1997. I graduated from a high school there and three-year school for the installer of local heating,” said Delic for bizjournals.

I came to Jacksonville in Florida back in 1997. He recalled that the life of his family was difficult in the beginning, but that he always believed in a better tomorrow. He started working in the bank as a cashier.

“I have been working in the banking industry for 17 years. I think my story is kind of unique. I started to work occasionally in the Atlantic Coast Bank as treasurer and I got promoted. I worked as a personal banker and that brought me to this position in the First Atlantic Bank,” said Delic.

The Director General of the bank, Mitch Hunt, said that he is very pleased that Damir joined their team.

“His experience and knowledge in this sector will help our company to continue to grow in northeast Florida,” stated Hunt.
