The best B&H tennis player of the ATP list Damir Džumhur became the second B&H player who succeeded to enter the World Top 200. He took 187th place on the ATP list.
Despite the injuries he had a pause in the first season that prevented him from performing in the qualifications of Roland Garros and Wimbeldon, Damir succeeded in performing at the two Grand Slams (Australia and US open). He scored 272 points during this year by playing two finals at the Challenger Tournament and won three titles at the ITF Futures Tournaments. The total ratio of victories and defeats of the season is 53:25. For the Davis Cup of B&H team he has two wins and one defeat.
Damir stated that he had to undergo surgery due to the lack of oxygen flow to his lungs, and that after surgery he feels good and he is recovering.
“I am going to Rome on Wednesday, where I will be preparing for the next 10 days, and afterwards I will play in Brisbane at the end of December and in January at the Australia Open. I will especially focus on playing for Roland Garros during 2014. I plan to play as much as possible for ATP tournaments next season, that I can get as close as possible to the World Top 100”, said Damir.
His manager Nedim Vilogorac stated that usually tennis players in the top 100 are approximately 28 years old, so we should have patience for a big result considering that Damir is 21 years old.
