meeting-salary-rsAt the session of the Economic and Social Council of the RS was agreed to establish a working group that should submit a new amount of the minimum wage in the RS in the next seven days.

President of the Union of Employers of the RS Dragutin Skrebic emphasized that the determination of the minimum salary is an obligation that should be defined in the last quarter of the current year and that the Economic and Social Council will meet again to discuss after the working group is done with its job.

He noted that the amount of the minimum wage, which depends on the economic indicators, is mainly determined according to the European practice, and it amounts to 30-45 % of the average salary. Skrebic noted that “only two or three countries” have a minimum wage in the amount of 50 % of the average wage.

Minister of Labor and Veterans Protection of the RS Milenko Savanovic said that the economic indicators on which is based the amount of the lowest salary for this year are more favorable compared to the previous period, such as industrial production growth, where growth in the manufacturing industry is 7 % and GDP growth is 6 %.

President of the Trade Unions of the RS Ranka Misic said that it is about time to harmonize views on the amount of minimum wages, due to the fact that the government of the RS will soon propose a budget for next year, and when this is done, then any talk about minimum wages is too late.

She recalled that the scheduling of this session was requested by Confederation of Trade Unions and noted that the Union accepted the formation of a working group that should submit the amount of minimum wage, and that is the last moment to raise it from the current 370 BAM.
