Delegations of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and the Regional Council of Representatives of Indonesia exchanged information in Sarajevo today on competencies, composition, manner of work and decision-making in these two high houses, and possibilities of more intensive inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.

The guests from Indonesia emphasized that the Regional Council of Representatives, whose members are elected directly from 34 Indonesian regions, is a counterpart to the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, since they consider laws and other acts, such as the state budget, on an equal footing with the representative body.

Inviting the delegates of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament to pay a return visit, the members of the delegation of the Regional Council of Representatives of Indonesia announced that a proposal for a memorandum on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries would be sent by the end of this year.

A special topic of discussion was the possibility of strengthening economic cooperation and increasing the volume of foreign trade, and it was jointly stated that BiH and Indonesia can achieve a strategic partnership in opening markets and enabling faster entry of goods and capital into the EU and Southeast Asia.

They also talked about the need to strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism, for which, as it was warned, it is necessary to abolish visas for the entry of Indonesian citizens into BiH.

The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH was represented at the meeting by delegates Lazar Prodanović, Lidija Bradara, Marina Pendeš, Amir Fazlić and Munib Jusufović.
