DF Party: We offer a Proposal for a Permanent Solution to HR Schmidt

In a press release, the Democratic Front states that it will present the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmit, a proposal for a permanent solution for the formation of the government in the Federation of BiH.

“Given that Schmidt has obviously already decided to impose a solution that should unblock the process of forming the government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that he is calling for political parties to come to an agreement, and that agreement will obviously not be reached, the Democratic Front offers a proposal for a permanent solution to Mr. Schmidt,” it is stated.

The Democratic Front presented the proposal yesterday at the session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ‘and now we are using the opportunity to say that we will submit the same to Schmidt because we think that this solution meets all the criteria of the dominance of the parliamentary majority in the process of forming the government’.

The initiative of the club of MPs of the Democratic Front in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament is to amend the FBiH Constitution in such a way that the appointment of the government is possible without the consent of both vice presidents. The DF proposal states that the FBiH Government would be appointed by the President with the consent of one of the FBiH vice presidents and that, if this does not happen within 60 days of the FBiH leadership appointment, snap elections in the entity would be called.
