Digitalize the electoral Process in BiH and prevent the Fraud

The Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on domestic politicians who have decision-making power in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt amendments to the Election Law that will technically improve the election process.

The SBiH believes that at this time it is important to digitize the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina by introducing technical innovations in order to prevent vote theft, which has been evident so far.

A statement from the party said that “it is known that certain political parties instruct their members on polling stations to change the results and thus nullify the true will of the citizens.”

“The Party for BiH is committed to fair elections because the abuse of the process has led to the abstinence of a large number of citizens and widespread distrust in the voting results,” the SBiH said.

In order to improve the election process, it is added, it should be possible to scan ballots and count votes on the spot, and automatically send them to the Municipal Election Commission and the Central Election Commission of BiH.

With this approach, they emphasize from SBiH, there will be no manipulations, “that instead of the dead, members of polling stations vote after the closing of polling stations”.

Also, in SBiH, they believe that by using AFIS devices, fingerprints, voters could confirm their identity, but the installation of surveillance cameras at polling stations would provide an additional guarantee of the correctness of the election process.

Technical improvement would include digital centralization of counting and processing of votes, which would eliminate any form of fraud, they point out in SBiH.

To vote from the diaspora, where 1/3 of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina live, and whose number is constantly increasing, it is necessary to enable video identification of voters, as is done in banks across the European Union.

Video identification technology has been in use for a long time and only needs to be ordered and installed.

“Implementation of the listed technical improvements would restore the integrity of the election process, which would restore the trust of citizens in the results that would finally be decided by the voters,” the SBiH Press Service said in a statement.
