On the Facebook page “Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) – Photo Encyclopedia,” a photo of Husein Pasalic, who is considered the first tourist guide in Sarajevo, has been shared.

According to the Sarajevo Tour Guide Association “Vucko”, Muhamed Kresevljakovic discovered a travelogue that Muhamed Ali wrote about Sarajevo in 1900.

In it, Olmutz Pasha is mentioned, and Kresevljakovic claims that it refers to Husein Pasalic. Husein is also signed as Olmutz Pasha on the postcard.

One Facebook user commented that Husein Pasalic, along with 600 Sarajevo residents, was interned in the Czech town of Olomouc after the occupation. It was there that he learned the German language, which was beneficial when he started working in tourism. This is how he got the nickname Olmutz Pascha.

The mentioned Facebook group also published a photo of the other side of the postcard. It lists places in Sarajevo and its surroundings that are worth visiting.

Among them are: Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, National Museum, Seven Brothers Turbeh, Marijin Dvor, the then Sharia Law School (today’s Faculty of Islamic Studies), a carpet weaving workshop, Old Orthodox Church, Cathedral, bazaar, city hall (Vijecnica), tobacco factory, city promenade (Bascarsija)…, Klix.ba writes.
