Milorad Dodik, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, assessed the decision of the Croatian Ministry of Environment and Energy to build a Center for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste at the Cerkezovac site on Trgovska Gora, and he welcomed all activities carried out by the governments of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, state institutions, cantons and municipalities and said that it was necessary to make additional diplomatic efforts, but also to use all available legal means to prevent the Center for radioactive waste management from being built at that location.

“I expect that Croatia will give priority to this issue and that it will contribute to resolving it in the spirit of good neighborly relations,” Dodik said.

Dodik recalled that one of the first initiatives he launched after assuming the presidency of BiH after the October 2018 elections was to put on the agenda issues of dealing with the disposal of radioactive waste on the slopes of Trgovska Gora, the cabinet of a Bosnian Presidency member said.

“Considering that the disposal of radioactive waste at the Cerkezovac site would endanger the lives of approximately 250,000 Republika Srpska entity and Bosnian citizens from 13 municipalities located in the Una River Basin, in March 2019, Bosnian Presidency initiated a series of activities in accordance with its mandate to Croatia would provide a second location for the disposal of radioactive waste in the territory of its territory, which does not border with the territory of BiH, “said Dodik.
