The President of SNSD, Milorad Dodik, stated that his party will boycott the early entity elections for the president of Republika Srpska (RS), rejecting the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
“SNSD respects the conclusions of the National Assembly of RS (NARS) and will not participate in the elections called by the CEC of BiH. I believe that our coalition partners will do the same,” said Dodik.
He assessed the decision of the CEC as a “political maneuver directed against the Serbian people.”
“The decision of the CEC of BiH on early elections for the president of RS is the latest trick of political Sarajevo against the Serbian people,” claimed Dodik.
The CEC decided on Thursday that the early elections for the president of the RS will be held on November 23rd, after the mandate of Milorad Dodik was annulled due to his final court conviction.
According to the decision, only candidates of Serbian nationality will be able to run for president of the RS. The mandate of the president elected in the early elections will last until the general elections in 2026, when, among others, the president of the RS will be elected for a new four-year term.
The organization of the early elections will cost BiH around 3.3 million euros.
