Dzaferovic: Future of BiH is in Strengthening the civic Principle

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Sefik Dzaferovic commented on the negotiations on the reform of the Election Legislation in Neum, explaining why they failed.

”We now intend to extend this protection of the interests of ethnic groups to all issues in BiH, and that is the complete domination of the ethnic principle and I would say that it is a complete division of BiH, which is unacceptable and that is why these negotiations in Neum failed, ” Dzaferovic stated.

Electoral model

He believes that the future of BiH is in strengthening the civic principle. He said that BiH should be organized as a state of citizens, with full respect for individual rights and with full respect for its multiethnic character and protection of vital interests of ethnic groups living in it.

There is a blackmail

According to Dzaferovic, after the initial sanctions from the United States (U.S.) and the consideration that certain members of the European Union (EU) impose sanctions on individuals in power in BiH, the climate and attitude of officials from the BiH entity of Republika Srpska (RS) will change when it comes to blockades of state institutions.

”In order to resolve this crisis, when it comes to the boycott and blockade coming from RS, the National Assembly of RS(NARS) must completely repeal the Law on Medicines, all conclusions on the withdrawal of competencies in those three areas, and officials must participate in the work institution of BiH. As for the Federation of BiH (FBiH), it is true that there is blackmail here as well. Give me the Election Law as I want or I will not agree to the formation of the Government of the FBiH. Or, I will not allow judges of the Constitutional Court of the FBiH to be appointed. These are unacceptable categories. We cannot talk in those categories, ” Dzaferovic is categorical.

Respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement

Sefik Dzaferovic considers the accusations that Bosniaks are a disruptive factor in the current crisis in BiH absurd. He mentioned the Bosniak people want respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement, although they think it is not entirely fair.

”We want BiH to function according to the Dayton Peace Agreement. That means the state and its internal structure, equality of all people and nations on the entire territory of BiH,”Sefik Dzaferovic concluded.
