Damir Dzumhur and Mirza Basic lost the matches in the first round of doubles at the Australian Open. Taylor Fritz / Cameron Norrie (USA, Great Britain) beat Bosnian players with a score of 2: 0 in sets.

The match lasted for an hour and 42 minutes, and Fritz and Norrie celebrated with a score of 7: 6 (7), 7: 5. Dzumhur and Basic went down in the first round in the singles competition. Dzumhur lost to Gael Monfils (3: 0) and Basic from Henrik Laaksen (3: 1).

Two weeks ago, Dzumhur played at the ATP tournament in Qatar, where he was defeated in the first round by Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic.

Later on, our tennis player has advanced for one position and is now in the 46th place on the list of the best tennis players in the world with 985 points.

Mirza Basic failed to score at the same tournament and suffered a drop in the list of ten positions and is now on the 97th place.

Tomislav Brkic was also defeated in the first round of the Challenger in Noumei but returned to the top 300 tennis players in the world and is at 299th position.

Serbian Novak Djokovic is still ahead of Rafael Nadal’s Champion, followed by Swiss veteran Roger Federer in the third position.

Damir Džumhur, born 20 May 1992, is a Bosnian professional tennis player and currently Bosnia and Herzegovina’s No. 1 player. He is a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Davis Cup team, and he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics, being selected as the first male tennis player from his country to do so.

As a junior, he was ranked world no. 3 and he was a bronze medalist at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. Džumhur is also the first male player to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in the main draw of any Grand Slam tournament. His career-best ranking of 23 makes him the highest-ranked player ever competing for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

By winning 2017 St. Petersburg Open singles tournament, Džumhur became the first player competing under the Bosnian flag to claim an ATP World Tour title. He added triumph in 2017 Kremlin Cup onto that, as the first player in tennis history to win both events played on Russian soil in the same season.
