Damir Dzumhur Progress nap.baDamir Dzumhur defeated Íñigo Cervantes with 2:1 in sets in the quarterfinals of the Challenger in Casablanca.
Dzumhur, the fourth holder of the tournament, celebrated against the Spanish tennis player after two hours and six minutes of play with 6:4, 3:6, 6:2.
The Spaniard, the 103rd tennis player of the world and the fifth holder of the tournament, expressed strong resistance to the best BH tennis player, and the first set was decided already in the ninth game after 45 minutes, when Dzumhur made a break which confirmed his leadership with 1:0.
The second set was played for a minute longer than the first. Cervantes played a lot better, and after three break-balls in the eight game he managed to make a break which, although Dzumhur had an opportunity for a re-break, Cervantes confirmed already in the next game for a tie in sets.
The third set, which lasted for 37 minutes, belonged entirely to Damir. After he lost his first service-game, Dzumhur won the next four and brought the match to the end in a matter of routine.
Dzumhur will play against the Japanese Taro Daniel, the 128th racket of the world, today in the semifinals. The seventh holder of the tournament eliminated the Dutch Thiem de Bakker in the quarterfinals with 2:1.
Dzumhur and Daniel already met once this year. The Japanese celebrated with 2:1 (6:4, 3:6, 6:3) at the Challenger in Braunschweig on July 8th, and this will be an opportunity for Damir to get revenge on him.
