Embassy of Croatia refused to Receive the Protest Note

The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ivan Sabolić, refused to receive a note of protest from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the alleged statements of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, about Srebrenica.

The Croatian Embassy announced that the ambassador refused to receive the protest note, the tone and content of which, as they stated, are based solely on unsubstantiated claims, and which the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Croatia labeled as “lies”.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a demarche to the Republic of Croatia, after some media reported that the president of that country, Zoran Milanović, denied the genocide in Srebrenica. Milanović’s cabinet denied these allegations, while the Cabinet of BiH Presidency Chairman Šefik Džaferović said that the Croatian president “questioned the judgments of the Hague Tribunal on the genocide in Srebrenica.”

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses the strongest condemnation of the statement of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Zoran Milanović, from September 12, 2022, in which, during the working lunch at the Brdo – Brioni summit, he denied the genocide in Srebrenica,” the demarche stated.
