The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium was signed today in Sarajevo.

BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium Hadja Lahbib, who is on a two-day working visit to our country, signed the Memorandum today.

The signing of the Memorandum was preceded by a tête-à-tête meeting between Minister Konaković and Minister Lahbib, and a meeting of delegations.

In his address to the journalists, Minister Konaković stressed good relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belgium. He thanked the Foreign Minister of Belgium for the continuous support for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I expressed my appreciation to Belgium for its understanding which showed readiness for the EU enlargement policy even before the latest events in Ukraine. I thanked for the support for our candidate status, because Belgium was an advocate and promoter of the idea to grant BiH candidate status,” Konaković pointed out.

He expressed his satisfaction that the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed today, because in the administrative and technical sense, the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belgium can be of great and significant help on the path that is very difficult and challenging for BiH and requires a lot of reforms in all fields and all levels of government.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Hadja Lahbib, assessed that Belgium and BiH have excellent relations.

“I want to emphasize that the Diplomatic Office of Belgium in Sarajevo will grow into the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, which will contribute to strengthening our relations. We would like to once again emphasize our support for the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is why we signed the Memorandum of Understanding, with the aim of supporting the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Minister Lahbib said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Hadja Lahbib, is also scheduled to meet with members of the BiH Presidency and the Chairperson of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, Fena reports.
