The United Nations (UN) Security Council will meet today at Ukraine’s request following massive Russian air attacks in which several people were killed and the use of the latest-generation Oreshnik missile.
“Russia has reached a terrifying level of war crimes and crimes against humanity in its attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine,” stated Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN, Andriy Melnyk, in a letter requesting the meeting.
He added that such an attack represents a serious threat to the security of the European continent, undermines regional stability, and poses serious risks to international peace and security in a broader sense.
The Russian Federation on Saturday officially claimed responsibility for the use of a “medium-range ballistic missile known as ‘Oreshnik’ in the Lviv region.“
