Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakna announced that the country is imposing sanctions on Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska, whose mandate was revoked by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He said that the country is imposing sanctions on two individuals who undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and incite separatism.

“The new sanction provides for a ban on entry to persons for whom there is evidence of participation in or active support for activities abroad that violate the norms and principles of international law,” Tsakna said, adding that the sanctions are being imposed on former Moldovan MP Irina Vlah and Milorad Dodik.

Sanctions can also be applied to individuals who incite separatism, undermine the sovereignty of states, or have committed serious financial crimes involving public funds, including corruption, or crimes that have the characteristics of money laundering.

With this new measure, Estonia can take steps on the international stage to help preserve or restore peace, international security and the international legal order.

Sanctioned individuals will be banned from entering Estonia.

Recall that Dodik was previously sanctioned by the US, UK, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Lithuania and Poland, Nezavisne writes.
