EU Delegation to BiH Statement on Cooperation of BiH and EUROPOL

eu_flag_rf123The EU Delegation to BiH/EUSR welcomes the adoption of a report submitted by the Negotiating Team of Bosnia and Herzegovina after the talks with EUROPOL held in December 2014. The BiH Council of Ministers adopted yesterday the report regarding talks on concluding the Agreement on Operational and Strategic Co-operation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and EUROPOL.

This is another important step towards enhanced cooperation with EUROPOL and EU Member States when it comes to the fight against serious crime, including terrorism. Information and intelligence sharing and enhanced cooperation represent indispensable element in fighting all forms of crimes. Exchange of operational data, which would be enabled through this Agreement, will significantly step up the cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only by fighting crime jointly and more effectively can we increase the safety and security of citizens.

Following completion of internal procedures at EUROPOL, we encourage relevant institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue with necessary procedures which would allow the signature of the agreement as soon as possible.
