EU Delegation in BiH comments on the Current Political Situation in BiH

The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued today interim measures, suspending the application of all legal acts adopted by the Republika Srpska National Assembly on 27 February. The decisions of the Constitutional Court, including interim measures, need to be respected by all.

“The Republika Srpska entity must comply with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the country’s laws and respect the competences and decisions of the country’s institutions, including the Constitutional Court, High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Court, Prosecutors’ Office as well as the State Investigation and Protection Agency,” said the EU Delegation in BiH.

They urged all public officials to perform their duties in line with the law. Political pressure on public officials to leave state-level institutions must end.

“We once again call on all politicians to engage in dialogue to deescalate the situation, and to focus efforts on delivering progress for citizens, including on the EU path,” it was concluded.
