A total of 95,385 surgical masks, FFP2 protective masks and protective gowns were delivered today to the Una-Sana Canton Public Health Institute in Bihać, as part of the European Union’s support to institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the handover of protective equipment, Stefano Donati,  Head of the Banja Luka Regional Office of the European Union Delegation to BiH, stressed that since the outbreak of the pandemic, the European Union provides much needed protective and medical equipment to medical institutions throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina almost on daily basis. Equipment worth over 445,000 Euros was delivered to medical institutions of the Una-Sana Canton. “This is yet another concrete example of the European Union’s support for the citizens of the Una-Sana Canton. Protecting the health and safety of citizens is our top priority,” said Donati.

Thanks to support of the European Union, a total of 1,100,000 surgical masks, 110,000 N95/FFP2 protective masks and 50,000 protective gowns will be delivered by the end of January 2021 to medical institutions in Banja Luka, Bihać, Brčko District, Goražde, Livno, Mostar, Orašje, Travnik, Tuzla and Zenica, in order to ensure safety of medical workers and first responders.

The equipment was procured through the “COVID-19 Pandemic Response” project implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for which the European Union provided a total of 7 million euros.
