EU on NARS Decisions: We expect RS Authorities to de-escalate the Situation

The EU Delegation to BiH today issued a statement regarding the announced referendum in Republika Srpska, which was confirmed at yesterday’s session of the RS National Assembly.

“The judgment of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the case against Milorad Dodik is final and binding and must be respected. Subjecting the court judgment to a public vote is contrary to the rule of law and the independence of judicial bodies,” the EU said.

The RS authorities, as stated, are expected to de-escalate the situation and respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The RS National Assembly yesterday adopted a decision to call a referendum on the decisions of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Central Election Commission of BiH against former RS President Milorad Dodik.

The referendum is scheduled to be held on 25 October this year.

13 conclusions were also adopted, which, among other things, mandated the preparation of a text on self-determination.
