EU will now have less Time and Patience for our Outsmarting

eu_flag_rf123While BiH struggles with meeting the basic conditions for accession to the European Union, such as the question of how much of us there is in this country, the Great Britain leaves the EU, stated the political analyst Ivana Marić.

Out of 72 percent of citizens of Great Britain who voted in the referendum, around 52 percent expressed the desire to leave the EU, believing that they will be better off if they continue alone.

Marić said that the British Prime Minister David Cameron, who proposed the referendum, “burnt himself on the fire he started by himself”.

“By suggesting the referendum, Cameron had the intention to calm down the EU skeptics in his rows and to improve the negotiating position of Britain in the EU. However, the Britons did not understand that it was a bluff and they took the referendum seriously and voted for exit. Two years ago, Cameron also took a risk with the referendum on the independency of Scotland. Unlike this time, he managed to get enough votes against back then,” Marić said.

Not many people expected this outcome of the referendum. This is also evidenced by the fact that Cameron went public with official statement and announcement of his resignation only after 10 am.

Marić assessed that official representatives of EU reacted very coldly on the results of referendum. Their statements reflect disappointment and resignation, but also determination to continue strengthening the EU. They expressed wish to complete the official process of exclusion as soon as possible, so that they could consolidate the rows within membership and move forward.

Marić believes that the EU will certainly suffer some consequences.

“I tis reasonable to fear that EUR will also lose value, which will negatively reflect on many other currents. Unlike the events that our politicians often call ‘historical’, such as the establishment of the ruling majority, this referendum truly is historical and everyone will suffer from its consequences in this way or another. Such outcome of the referendum gave an impetus to radical parties throughout Europe that announced the initiation of similar referendums in France, Austria etc.,” Marić said.

Marić assessed that for BiH this means that the EU, taking care of its internal problems, will certainly have less time and patience to deal with our outsmarting.

“Cameron made a bad call with this referendum and he paid it by ending his political career. This might be a good lesson for some BiH politicians who also often bluff and make threats with referendums,” said the analyst Ivana Marić.
