The Commander of the European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Florin Marian Barbu, emphasized in his address to the EUFOR IRF at Camp Butmir that the activation of the IRF is a proactive measure aimed at providing assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the interest of all its citizens.

“EUFOR remains directly committed to its mandate to support the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in maintaining security and stability. The structure of our forces has been carefully adjusted to the changing needs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, preserving a delicate balance that has been successfully maintained for years,” said Major General Florin Marian Barbu.

He recalled that the history of the EUFOR mission “clearly illustrates how we have contributed to maintaining peace and fostering stability within the framework of the Dayton Peace Agreement”.

“We remain focused on ensuring that this hard-won stability is maintained and that we continue to provide a safe and stable environment for all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These reinforcements underline our credibility as a robust and reliable force, demonstrating the rapid and simple integration of our multinational troops, in order to respond effectively to different situations. Our mission remains to support the institutions of BiH in maintaining a safe and stable environment for all citizens,” said the Romanian Major General.

He said that the arrival of military personnel and equipment from the Czech Republic, Italy and Romania, who were among the first to arrive as part of the EU force reinforcement, and their presence is a strong and visible sign of the EU’s unity and unwavering commitment to the stability and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“EUFOR’s capabilities, as a multinational force, are crucial to supporting the institutions of BiH in maintaining a safe and stable environment for all citizens. EUFOR Althea remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, respect and accountability. Our mission is built on cooperation with local communities and authorities, so that our actions reflect both our international mandate and our deep respect for the cultural, legal and social norms of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Major General Florin Marian Barbu, Fena news agency writes.
