european-comissionThe referendum that was held in the RS has no legal basis, as concluded by the European Commission.

A spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said that the referendum has no legal basis because the Constitutional Court of BiH decided to suspend the decision on the referendum until it decides on its constitutionality.

“This referendum cannot change the final and binding decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, said Kocijancic at a press conference held in Brussels, as reported by Tanjug.

She noted that the European Commission encourages the institutions in BiH to resolve the question of the Day of the RS in the framework of existing legal procedures, within the existing Constitution of the country and in constructive dialogue.

“It’s important to refrain from all activities that may contribute to the escalation of the situation and that BiH should focus on the reforms needed to address the economic and social issues they are facing in order for the country to make progress on the path of Euro-integrations,” said Kocijancic in Brussels.
