So far, the families of seven victims of the genocide committed in Srebrenica have given consent for their burial at the collective funeral in the Srebrenica – Potočari Memorial Center on July 11 of this year.

Spokeswoman of the Missing Persons Institute of BiH, Emza Fazlić, told FENA that in the premises of the Podrinje Identification Project (PiP) are the remains of another 30 genocide victims who have been identified through the DNA method and by their families, but the families have not yet given consent for the burial of these victims.

She explained that a small number of skeletal remains have been found so far for these 30 victims, so the families decide to wait a little longer in hope that other parts of the skeletons of their loved ones will be found in the coming period.

At the same time, she stated, there are also the remains of another 92 victims whose DNA was isolated, but there is still no match with the blood samples of the victims’ family members, and it has not been possible to identify them until now, Fena reports.
