FBiH Highways are preparing for Public-Private Partnership

Public Enterprise FBiH Highways is planning to publish a tender for constructing the subsection Svilaj-Odžak on 20 February. In that subsection, which will cost 5 million EU, a border crossing is included, and on 14 March the publishing of second tender for building the tunnel Vijenac has been planned, while the first phase should be over by late March, reports FENA.

On a press conference, manager of PE FBiH Highways Ensad Karić said that the Sarajevo detour is being built from Kuwaiti Investment Fund, and that soon PE FBIH Highways is planning to build a detour around Zenica, and the company is negotiating with IFC, member of the World Bank about consultant services for implementing public-private partnership.

-FBiH Government already gave its permission, and the signing should be done in next month or so – said Karić.

According to the plan, by 2014, 102 kilometres of highways should be completed on the corridor 5-C, and so far the subsection Bilješevo-Kakanj has been finished and subsection Kravice-Zvirovići is planned to be finished by 2014. Works on constructing the subsection Tarčin-Vlakovo(20 km) are also being done, and in next few months construction of  the subsection Butile-Vlakove will start.

FBiH Highways have in 2012 made profit of 80 million BAM, 60 million BAM from gas tax, and 15 million BAM from highway tolls. Company has assets worth 884 million BAM.

Karić said that FBiH Highways are preparing a new investment cycle in 2014 and they will seek from the Government to help increasing the budget of the company either by giving money from FBiH budget or by increasing taxes.
