FBiH Poultry Association warns: Thawed meat from Turkey is sold as “fresh”

According to information from the Poultry Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), eight containers of frozen chicken fillets from Turkey entered BiH these days.

”By experience from earlier practices, we are justifiably concerned that the mentioned amount of frozen meat went through the defrosting process and then ended up at sales points where it is sold as “fresh meat”. In addition to unfair competition, which is a blow to domestic production, it is primarily illegal actions that are dangerous to people’s health,” according to the FBiH Poultry Association.

They called on competent inspections and institutions to strengthen controls and protect the health of BiH citizens, as well as genuine producers who are disappearing due to such practices.

”We invite the entire public to take care when choosing a producer, especially during the May Day holidays when meat consumption is increased. When choosing a producer, educate yourself if the producer owns a breeding farm, slaughterhouse, etc.,” it was announced by the Association.
