The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced today that the prize fund for the 2026 World Cup will amount to a record $727 million.

Following the draw for the 2026 World Cup held on December 5 in Washington, FIFA approved a record financial allocation of $727 million to be distributed within the 2026 World Cup.

The largest portion of this amount, $655 million, a 50 percent increase over the previous tournament, will be paid out as prize money for the 48 participating teams.

The champion will receive $50 million, the defeated finalist $33 million, the third-placed team $29 million, and the fourth-placed team $27 million. Teams placed fifth through eighth will receive $19 million, teams placed ninth through 16th will receive $15 million, teams placed 17th through 32nd will receive $11 million, and teams placed 33rd through 48th will receive $9 million.

In addition, each qualifying team will receive an additional $1.5 million for preparation costs, meaning that all associations are guaranteed at least $10.5 million to participate in the tournament.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said that the 2026 World Cup will also be a game-changer in terms of financial contributions to the global football community.
