The First Business Forum BiH – Germany held in Berlin

business forum BiH GermanyThe first Business Forum BiH – Germany was held in Berlin at the headquarters of Deutsche Bank, at the initiative of the Embassy of BiH in Berlin and Ambassador Zeljko Janjetovic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany, the Representative Office of German Economy in BiH, the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Germany (DIHK) and the Association of the Economy of Eastern Europe (Ost -Ausschus der Deutschen Wirtschaft).

Over 120 representatives from BiH and Germany participated on the forum. Companies from sectors of machine industry, production of medicinal herbs, robotics, IT sector and many others attended the event as well, besides companies from the automotive and furniture industry from our country.

Dragisa Mekic, the Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, greeted everyone on the forum on behalf of our country, and representatives of FIPA, the Foreign Trade Chamber, and chambers of commerce of both entities and Brcko District presented their work. Guests at the event were ambassadors of Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia, Italy, and the consuls general of BiH in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, and Munich.

Possibilities of further improvement of trade exchange and investments were discussed on the forum, on the basis of the experiences of German companies in BiH and BH companies in Germany.

Uwe Beckmeyer, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy said that he is pleasantly surprised by the number of participants at the forum as well as the qualitative discussion that took place. He further emphasized the support of the government of Germany for further development of economic relations between BiH and Germany and noted that the forum is a great opportunity to do this, as well as the initiative of Germany for a permanent working group on economic issues of the two countries.

The general opinion of participants on the forum was that it was very well organized and that BiH was well presented in the capital city of Germany.
