OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić and the Mayor of Eastern Sarajevo Nenad Samardžija visited the 25 International Book Fair and the 12th biennial books in the Sarajevo Center Skenderija. This was their first official visit.

The organizers of the 25th international book fair and the 12th biennial books, the Director of Skenderija Center Hajriz Bećirović and the owner of TKD Šahinpašić Taib Šahinpašić greeted the mayors.

“I have been here for a few minutes and my impressions are very favorable. Regardless of the time of crisis in which our country finds itself, I am positively surprised by the large number of exhibitors at the fair, which is a positive example for young people’’, said Nenad Samardžija, Mayor of East Sarajevo.

He added that this is the first official meeting of the mayors, and considering that their predecessors already began cooperation in the area of sport and culture, ‘’we are obligated to continue it’’.

“I am certain that we will find the interest and need to cooperate in the next period for all important projects that are of interest to citizens of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo’’, said Samardžija.

With the visit, the mayors have expressed great respect to the fair, and in a way made an official start to future cooperation.

“It is my pleasure to be here with the mayor of East Sarajevo at an important cultural and academic event. Only in this way and with fairs such as this one can we move forward towards Europe’’, said the Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić.

He said that for Sarajevo and East Sarajevo it is important that the mayors met today and that cooperation would continue for the mutual benefit and interest of citizens.

“Our citizens have an interest for us to work together at this level and to give them an opportunity to lead easier lives’’, said Komšić.

This year’s 25th international book fair and the 12th biennial books is being held under the motto “Bosnian House-Window for a Book” and will be open until 22 April.
