First Payments to the Savers in the Ljubljanska Bank by the End of the Year?

Ljubljanska-bankaAfter obtaining documents from the Sarajevo branch of the Ljubljanska Bank, Slovenia received guarantee from representatives of authorities in Republika Srpska that they will be granted access to the archives of the Ljubljanska Bank in Banja Luka as well. Accordingly, Slovenia estimates that they will obtain the final part of the necessary documentation in early October 2016, which would enable first payments to the savers by the end of this year.

Slovenia once again explained that they have been waiting for a long time to get access to the archives of the Sarajevo branch of the Ljubljanska Bank. They needed access to the archives in order to verify the foreign currency deposits and decide on requests by the savers, which are currently still postponed, stated the Embassy of Slovenia in BiH.

Scanning of the part of archives located in Sarajevo is completed. Copy of this documentation has already been delivered to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia.

“Negotiations regarding the access to archives of the Ljubljanska Bank in Banja Luka are also in the final stage. According to guarantees given by representatives of local authorities, we estimate that scanning of the final part of the available archives of the Ljubljanska Bank will be completed in early October 2016, which would enable first payments to the savers by the end of this year already,” the Embassy stated.

It was especially emphasized that the Fund of Republic of Slovenia for Inheritance is exclusively in charge of verification and deciding on foreign currency deposits of savers in the Ljubljanska Bank. Savers who have already submitted their requests to the Fund do not have to do it again. The Fund must only be notified in case of change of the information about the submitter (contact address, information about the account to which the payment will be made, and information about foreign currency deposit).

“Documentation obtained from the archives in BiH will be used by Slovenia in the same way as we used the information about savers in the Ljubljanska Bank in Croatia. Verification process is unhindered in that case. So far, the Republic of Slovenia issues more than 8.000 informative calculations in total value of 91 million EUR, out of which 4.900 savers were paid 61 million EUR,” it was stated.
