The Flag of BiH raised in Olympic village

flagThe flag of BiH is waving in Rio de Janeiro where the 31st Olympic Games will be officially opened today. The flag-raising ceremony was attended by all athletes, coaches and members of BiH delegation.

This way, BiH was officially presented to the hosts of the Olympic Games and all athletes and sports professionals who came from all over the world to present their countries in the most important sporting event.

Delegation of our country is the largest so far at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . BiH, will have a record 11 athletes in Brazil: Tatjana Djekanović (shooting), Amina Kajtaz (swimming), Mihajlo Ceprkalo (swimming), Larisa Ceric (judo), Amel Tuka (racing at 800 m), Damir Dzumhur (tennis), Basic Mirza (tennis), Hamza Alic (shot put), Mesud Pezer (shot put), Kemal Mesic(shot put) and Lucia Kimani (marathon).

Amel Tuka will carry our flag at the Maracana Stadium at the opening ceremony which will be held tonight.

Head of Mission of BiH in Rio de Janeiro, Said Fazlagic, said that he is eagerly waiting for the parade for which we received a total of 18 places.

“We got a total of 18 places to go to the parade. We will depart to Maracana Stadium around 4 pm and we will be there around 5 pm. We will wait in the hallways for the parade which always begins with parade of Greece, and then will go other countries in alphabetical order. We will be happy to present BiH, in front of about a billion viewers worldwide,” said Fazlagic.

Tatjana Djekanovic, who competes in the shooting, and Amina Kajtaz, who competes in swimming, will enter the scene first. Djekanovic and Kajtaz will perform on the night from Saturday to Sunday.
