For which Countries do you need to bring a Green Card Document?

The Green Card Bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina reminded drivers before the annual holidays for which countries they need to have a green card/IMIC document.

After the accession of the Green Card Bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Multilateral Agreement, the green card/IMIC document is mandatory when traveling to nine member states of the Green Card System, namely: Albania, Azerbaijan, North Macedonia, Morocco, Moldova, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

In order to determine the validity of international automobile liability insurance, drivers with BiH license plates upon entering the mentioned countries present a valid green card/IMIC, which is issued to policyholders by insurance companies based on automobile liability insurance contracts.

After the accession to the Multilateral Agreement, on the basis of which the national green card offices assume the obligation to guarantee damages caused by vehicles with foreign registration plates in the signatory countries of the Multilateral Agreement, drivers of vehicles with BiH registration plates, when crossing the borders of the countries of the European Economic Area, Serbia, Montenegro, Andorra and Switzerland, does not verify the possession of a green card/IMIC, but the registration plate of the motor vehicle serves as proof of the existence of mandatory automobile liability insurance.

Due to the unique form in all countries of the Green Card System, the green card/IMIC is a document in English, which makes it easier to identify participants in traffic accidents and which contains all the data that each participant in a traffic accident needs to submit a claim for compensation to the competent insurance company or the relevant national green card bureau.

On the back of the green card/IMIC are listed the addresses and telephone numbers of national bureaus where participants in road accidents can obtain the necessary information regarding the collection of compensation claims arising from road accidents abroad.

For the above reasons, the recommendation of the BiH Green Card Bureau is that insured persons have a green card / IMIC when traveling abroad, including countries where it is not mandatory for unhindered movement and crossing international borders.
