Russian energy company Gazprom has announced that it will suspend natural gas supplies to Moldova from January 1, 2025.
Gazprom said in a statement that the suspension of gas supplies will be due to Moldova’s failure to pay an existing debt for imported gas.
Gazprom accuses Moldovan company Moldovagaz of frequently failing to fulfill its contractual obligations.
“In this context, based on contractual provisions, Gazprom will suspend gas supplies to Moldova from January 1, 2025,” the statement said.
Following the war in Ukraine, natural gas trade between Russia and many European countries was suspended, AA writes.
