German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will pay an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in the coming days.

This information was confirmed by well-informed diplomatic sources for Avaz. According to them, she announced a visit to the region, certain talks were held, but the exact date of her visit is still unknown.

This will be a continuation of a kind of offensive German diplomacy regarding the situation in BiH and the region, which Germany considers very serious.

”The situation in BiH is worrying. Efforts to secede are unacceptable. In my opinion, that means that the current sanctions regime should be applied against Mr. Dodik as well,”Baerbock stated after the meeting of European Union (EU) foreign ministers in mid-December last year.

At the recent meeting in Munich, which was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Bisera Turkovic, the role of the EU was discussed, among other things, and the importance of Germany’s constructive engagement in our region was emphasized. The German Foreign Minister said that the country would continue to support the countries of the region and reiterated that the future of the Western Balkans is in the EU.
